This ignition switch is a high-quality service replacement for 1960 Chevrolet Impalas (replacing GM Part Number 1116576), designed to provide reliable performance while incorporating functional enhancements for modern use. Due to the one-year-only configuration of the original 1960 switch, this unit is based on the proven 1957-1959 design with modified mounting threads to properly fit the 1960 dash. While maintaining a factory-correct appearance once installed, this switch includes an added accessory (ACC) position when rotated fully counterclockwise to allow operation of radios and accessories without energizing the ignition system. This helps prevent damage to points, HEI systems, and electronic modules when the engine is not running, though it differs from the original 1960 key positioning.This switch also features additional battery (BAT) and ignition (IGN) terminals on the rear of the unit, as shown in the included contact diagram. These terminals are intentionally included to support alternator conversions, aftermarket electronics, LS swaps, and other upgrades requiring reliable power and ignition feeds. The additional terminals are isolated, do not interfere with stock wiring, and provide up to 25-amp capable circuits for accessories and conversion harnesses, eliminating the need to modify the factory dash harness. If your vehicle retains a stock generator system, these terminals can simply remain unused and should not be removed or modified.Minor variation in terminal alignment or contact spacing may be present due to the reinforced internal design; however, this does not affect proper fit or function of the factory harness connection.
